AlaGo Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 September 2026
AlaGo is a ride-hailing service operated in Samoa by [operator details to be confirmed] ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information the AlaGo driver app, the AlaGo passenger mini-app and the AlaGo taxi company console collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can have it deleted.
Trips reach a driver in one of two ways, and the difference matters for your privacy:
- You book it yourself in the AlaGo passenger mini-app, and pay from your TickTap wallet.
- You telephone a taxi company, and their dispatcher enters the trip on your behalf. You pay the driver in cash. In this case you have no AlaGo account, and the information we hold about you is only what the dispatcher entered — see Trips booked by telephone.
Information we collect
| Category | What it is | Why we need it |
|---|---|---|
| Account identifier | A pseudonymous reference issued by the TickTap wallet, plus the display name you enter and, where you have provided one, a contact phone number. | To identify your account and to let a driver and passenger contact each other during a trip. |
| Driver details | Vehicle registration plate and model, and your application status. | To review driver applications and to show passengers which vehicle is arriving. |
| Location | Precise device location. The driver app collects it while you are online or on a trip, including when the app is in the background. The passenger app uses location only when you are choosing a pick-up point. | To offer trips by how close you are, to show passengers the vehicle approaching, and to measure trip distance for the fare. |
| Trip records | Pick-up and drop-off addresses and coordinates, route, distance, times, fare, platform commission and driver earnings. | To provide the service, to calculate and settle fares, and to keep accounting records. |
| Passenger details taken by telephone | For a trip booked through a taxi company: the passenger's name and telephone number, the pick-up and drop-off points, and any note the dispatcher recorded (for example, luggage). This information is given to us by the taxi company, not collected from the passenger directly. | So that the driver can identify the passenger at the pick-up point and telephone them if they cannot be found. |
| Taxi company records | Company name, contact person and telephone number, and the account used by its dispatcher. | To operate the dispatch console and to identify who dispatched a trip. |
| Technical data | App version and error diagnostics. | To diagnose faults. |
We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, microphone input, or advertising identifiers. AlaGo contains no advertising networks and no third-party analytics.
How we share information
- Between driver and passenger. During a trip the passenger sees the driver's name, vehicle plate and approaching position; the driver sees the passenger's name and, if available, contact number. Neither party sees the other's payment details.
- With the TickTap wallet operator. To hold, charge and settle fares we send the amount, the trip reference and the pseudonymous wallet reference. We never receive or transmit your card or bank details.
- With a taxi company, for trips that company dispatched. Its dispatcher sees the passenger name and telephone number they entered, the pick-up and drop-off points, the fare, and which of its drivers took the trip. Once the trip has been accepted the dispatcher can also see the route the vehicle travelled, so that they can answer a passenger who telephones to ask where the car is. A taxi company never sees trips dispatched by another company, and never sees trips booked by passengers in the app.
- With the taxi companies a driver has joined. A driver who links their account to a taxi company shares with that company their name, vehicle plate and model, contact telephone number, whether they are currently online, and when they were last seen. A driver can leave a company at any time from the Account page in the driver app, and can see there exactly which companies they are linked to.
- Where the law requires it, or to investigate a safety incident or a fraudulent transaction.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
Trips booked by telephone
If you telephoned a taxi company rather than using the app, you do not have a AlaGo account and we hold only what that company's dispatcher entered: your name, your telephone number, where you were collected and where you were taken, and any note about the trip. We do not hold any payment information for these trips, because you pay the driver in cash.
- Who sees it. The dispatcher at the taxi company you telephoned, and the driver who takes the trip. No other taxi company and no other driver can see it.
- Where it came from. The taxi company you telephoned. That company is responsible for telling you that it enters your details into AlaGo in order to send you a car.
- How long we keep it. Your name and telephone number are kept with the trip record for as long as accounting and dispute-handling require, and no longer than [retention period to be confirmed].
- Asking us to delete it. Because there is no account to sign in to, write to us at the address below with the date and approximate time of the trip. We will erase your name and telephone number from that record. The trip itself is kept as an accounting record without anything identifying you.
How long we keep it
- Location traces of your trips are deleted when you delete your account.
- Trip and payment records are kept for as long as accounting and tax law requires, in a form that no longer identifies you once your account is deleted.
- Account details (name, phone, wallet reference) are erased when you delete your account.
- Passenger details taken by telephone are kept for no longer than [retention period to be confirmed] — see Trips booked by telephone.
Deleting your account
In the driver app, open Account and choose Delete account. You can also request deletion without installing the app — see Account deletion, which sets out exactly what is erased and what is retained.
Your choices
- Location permission can be withdrawn in Android settings at any time. Without it the driver app cannot receive trips, because trips are offered by proximity.
- Voice announcement of new trips can be turned off in the app.
- A driver may leave a taxi company at any time from the Account page in the driver app. Doing so stops that company from seeing their online status and from sending them trips.
- You may ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, using the contact below.
Security
All traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Access to operational records is restricted to named administrator accounts. Each taxi company's console account can reach only that company's own trips and drivers; this is enforced on our servers, not merely hidden in the interface.
Children
AlaGo is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects you, notify you in the app.
